The Director of the External Intelligence Service of Russia delivered a speech at the 13 th international meeting of high-ranking officials responsible for security matters. In his speech he sounded a warning against the western propaganda about the “perceived threat from the East” and the ensuing militarization of Europe. He also pointed out that the western ambition for supremacy becomes a threat to global and regional security.
Russia has no right to abandon its value for the chimeras of totalitarian liberalism and globalization; History shows that the security of Eurasia and the rest of the world depends heavily on the secure position of Russia, he said.
He continued to note that the hegemonic attempt of the western countries to tip the global balance of power in their favour becomes another threat to global and regional security and said that the ulterior purpose of the west’s frightening their citizens with the notion of “threat from the East” is to brainwash them into perceiving the necessity of militarization.
With the World War II just ahead, Hitler also moved with the same logic, and the retrospective analysis of the history of international relations shows that the root of all large-scale armed conflicts over the past three centuries can be traced back to the narrow circle of a few western European countries, he said.
